Tips for a smooth and successful notarization

  • A valid government-issued photo ID is required. If you do not have one or if yours is expired, a credible witness must verify your identity under oath. Without proper identification, notarization cannot be completed.
  • Ensure the document includes the appropriate notarization certificate or that you know which certificate is needed before your appointment. I can provide a certificate but cannot advise on which certification is appropriate. If uncertain, consult an attorney or the requesting party for guidance.
  • Make sure you understand the document you are signing and its purpose.
  • Review the document to ensure everything is correct and all blank spaces have been properly filled in. Understand the risks of leaving any spaces blank.
